Make Mine a $Million, New York!

Make Mine a $Million, New York!

Okay, it is not difficult to persuade me to come to New York. But what a treat to be coming as a Make Mine a $Million awardee! www.makemineamillion.org What a relief to be in the audience and not on the stage, making the dreaded competition speech. I had a lot of fun networking at the event with the folks who came up to my booth at the Hammerstein Ballroom as well as visiting with my new pals at American Express, www.americanexpress.com, Intuit and the Count Me In staff. www.countmein.org
The photo is me, Diana Mercer, www.peace-talks.com, with Robin Moorad, www.imagoassociates.com.

We really had a terrific time. I got a chance to get to know my fellow awardees, too, and we got to spend some quality time together, between the impromptu hotel gatherings and the group coaching and learning session at American Express’ offices in the financial district. Margery Miller, http://www.makemineamillion.org/m3/home.php?page=meet_the_coaches, led a great group both at the session itself as well as throughout the week as we presented ourselves to prospective applicants. I even got to wear my sparkly suit. When I bought that suit, the saleslady asked, “Honey, do you have a place to wear this suit?” and I told her, “No, I do not, but I am going to find one!” And did I ever find a place to wear that suit! www.stjohnknits.com. ...okay, www.stjohnwholesale.com.

It was such a thrill sitting just feet from Senator Hillary Clinton as she talked about women’s economic independence. Yes, I do believe she could be President. Congresswoman Nydia Velazquez, ranking democrat on the House of Representatives Small Business Committee, was also really inspiring. It was such a boost to know that now, thanks to our affiliation with Make Mine a $Million and our colleagues through Count Me In, we have friends in high places.

The contestants’ speeches were really fabulous. What a great group of finalists! I shared a great moment with Sharla Hartgraves and Lisa Bayne from www.hereonthecorner.com. I was really impressed, and I’m so psyched to be joined by 20 more future $Millionaires who share my same vision of success. I even snuck off the next day to get a sandwich from Indian Bread Company, www.indianbreadco.com one of the winners. Fantastic!

I’m honored and privileged to be a part of this group.
